The Sleepless Unrest: The Real Conjuring Home

Cory and Jennifer Heinzen, who bought the historic “Conjuring” farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island, claim the historic house is still haunted by strange knocks, footsteps, doors opening on their own, and flashing lights in rooms which have no lights at all.  Their paranormal experiences - which are recorded and presented here - are enough to warrant more investigations into the ghostly matter, which is exactly what filmmakers Vera and Kendall Whelpton (Ghost Hunters, The House In Between) do in The Sleepless Unrest, now streaming on all digital platforms.

"There is an unusual presence here at the Conjuring house and, The Sleepless Unrest, makes it very clear that whatever is here is not giving up the ghost anytime soon"

The resulting paranormal investigation is both interesting and dramatic as time lapse photography, first-hand accounts, a new investigation, and pre-recorded footage are all edited together in order to draw interest into what proves to be more than just random books being pushed off shelves.  There is an unusual presence here at the Conjuring house and, The Sleepless Unrest, makes it very clear that whatever is here is not giving up the ghost anytime soon.

You can feel the Whelpton’s excitement as their road trip to Rhode Island begins.  From candid shots to brief discussions about what they could possibly find there, their energy together is indeed infectious, which makes watching this movie a whole lot of fun.  What they capture - no matter how slight it might be in the grand scheme of paranormal investigations - is damned alarming and not what they expected at all.

Would you spend two weeks in the Conjuring house?  From the evidence gathered both in and outside of the house, I don’t know if I could do it.  There is far too much paranormal activity for anyone - which includes researchers Richel Stratton and Brian Murray - to get a good night’s sleep.  But 10 days and nights?  Jeez.  Talk about exhausting! The Sleepless Unrest: The Real Conjuring Home

Yet, nothing about The Sleepless Unrest feels tired.  One step inside the 300-year-old farmhouse and you already get the sense that all is not calm here.  Perhaps it is the energy coming from the Heinzen’s, who have already experienced so much, but something oppressive can be witnessed in the atmosphere the Whelpton’s cameras catch.  It is a feeling which is only solidified by the capstone comments made at the end of their investigation, when all parties return home and find some lingering attachments from their extended stay in clapboard house.

From entering a cold basement, then descending into a deep well, and beyond, the crew assembled for the two-week investigation are ready for anything - even if it begins with a warning etched in sand (which, honestly, feels a bit sketchy).  Their EMF sensors are at the ready!  Hell, even the creepy Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls (which are a part of the location’s kitschy charm) don’t scare them off as they discover the longstanding history of King Philip's War on this European settlement, go searching for a graveyard, and explore an attic that should have remained boarded up.
