Piglet (2025)

“Ever done it in the woods?”

Be warned.  Piglet is on the prowl.

This isn’t the Piglet you know and love, mind you.  It’s not even the Piglet from the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror series, although someone sure as hell wants you to think it is.  Sure, it appears to be the same mask, but there’s no real connection between the movies as this so-called pig-person hunts down a group of girls in a remote cabin for some killer T&A fun.

"actually gets a few kicks in before it goes completely sideways"

With no A.A. Milne in sight - nor a reference to The Hundred Acre Wood - Piglet gets its scares in quite early as two security guards discuss their hulking prisoner and all the weird experiments done to him before he splits skulls; stomping repeatedly on one until it squirts like a watermelon against the walls of whatever truck that is being used to transport him.

Turns out, Piglet has some help - if only the filmmakers had some, though.  The atmosphere is flat; the sound design is flat; and - quite honestly - the only lift the movie gets is when clothes are shed.

You see, this Piglet is going after some girls who are renting a house for the weekend.  They are there for a birthday party and, while warned about this pig man, they care little for stories, preferring to go it alone and have a terrible time while doing it. Piglet (2025)

Starring Lauren Staerck, Alina Desmond, Valery Danko, Shayli Reagan and Alexander Butler, Piglet is not very well-made.  Even for an independent horror flick there are some egregious errors which really makes it hard to appreciate.  But, if you can overlook a lot of novice nonsense, perhaps there’s a flint of fun to be had - before the film starts ripping off Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Something terrible has happened to the dude who is wearing the killer’s mask and now, thanks to a violent escape from a prison truck, the psychopath who just wants to lunch and munch on some human flesh is out for revenge . . . against everyone.

Directed by Andrea M. Catinella and written by Harry Boxley, this blatant rip-off of a very troubled horror series actually gets a few kicks in before it goes completely sideways.  There’s plenty of skin and frolicking in the woods before the carnage hits the ceiling, but it might not be enough to keep audiences engaged . . . especially when no one gives two cents about the characters once the hot tub scene is over.

Kill them all!

Piglet is now available on all streaming platforms.  Oink! Oink!
