While it was initially exciting to get an early look at some of the first footage from The Hunger Games, the teaser trailer debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony earlier this summer, it wasn't nearly enough to satisfy the thirst of the rabid fans who have been patiently awaiting the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name.
Well, this morning saw the arrival of the film's first official full-length theatrical trailer which appeared on Good Morning America - but you can watch it here now, or head over to Apple to see it in HD (and without the big-ass GMA logo they plastered in the middle of the trailer.)
For the uninitiated, here's a rundown of the film's plot: In a dystopian future America is now Panem, a nation made up of twelve impoverished districts, all ruled by a militant capitol where technology and excess are a way of life. Every year the capitol holds a televised battle royal, where one male and female teenager from the twelve districts must battle to the death for the pleasure of capitol. When a young hunter from District 12 named Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) sacrifices herself to save her little sister from the games, she embarks on a brave fight for survival that could change a nation.
The Hunger Games stars Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, and Liam Hemsworth and is scheduled for a March 23, 2012 release.
