The Devil Comes at Night

Now, this is how you do independent horror!  The performances are unsettling; the mood is dark; and everything works together to create an unforgettable survival film as showing more and telling less becomes this film’s secret.

"a horror film with more than a few surprises up its sleeve"

The point is that Scott Leaver’s (Fare Trade) full length directorial debut is a horror film with more than a few surprises up its sleeve.  Satisfyingly clever in its roll out and full of solid cinematography, The Devil Comes At Night pits a washed-up boxer against a backwoods cult with cannibalism on its mind.  It’s definitely unpredictable, full of solid characters, and loaded with buried secrets as Ben (Ryan Allen, In The Shadow of the Moon) discovers that the house he has inherited is much more than it seems.

Think home invasion thriller by way of the supernatural as Ben’s deceased father’s farmhouse becomes the playground of a cannibalistic cult allowed to run rampant in a backwoods town, where Ben feels, as a black man, that he is being unfairly targeted. Where the search for his inheritance takes him; however, is over to the dark side.  The Devil Comes at Night

The Devil Comes At Night, starring American GodsAdrienne Kress and In The Shadow Of The Moon’s Ryan Allen, releases June 6th from Uncork'd Entertainment.  With the tension cranked up to 11 and unpredictability on its side, this crazy thriller is an unexpected surprise and starts with an opening that keeps its audience on its toes, thanks to a bar fight save from his old friend (Elias Zarou), whose presence early on helps push the opening into new and different territory.

With the help of Amy (Kress), the local librarian, Ben discovers the cult’s leader, Mason, has been hunting down his family for generations. And now his sights are set on Ben. Together, Ben and Amy must come up with a plan to defeat the cult once and for all. But will it work?

Co-starring Jason Martorino, Elias Zarou, Shawn Ahmed, Todd Campbell, Dana Fradkin, Ty Andrassy, DL Macdonald, Jeremiah Sparks, and Julie Cohn, The Devil Comes At Night is chock full of solid moments of pure terror as backwoods horror is brought to main street in this lights out thriller.
