I don’t think I have laughed this hard in my life. From beginning to end, Hundreds of Beavers is a silent comedy epic as slapstick turns endlessly creative and inspired throughout its running time. Trust me, your sides will hurt as a fur trapper finds his destiny among the cold and the wildlife. To say that this film is ingenious is almost a slap in the face; it is so much more in its handling of DIY antics.
And I, for one, am all in. This film carries the spirit of Chuck Jones and Buster Keaton like few have done in their wake and it does so much more in its running time, too, bringing so much entertainment that it's hard not to simply pass out from all the laughing.
To put it bluntly, Hundreds of Beavers is a super-charged take on Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies-inspired physical comedy antics as one drunken applejack salesman must battle the elements of the frigid wilderness - including lots and lots of mischievous beavers - to become the premiere fur trapper in North America.
This black-and-white silent comedy (well, there are sound effects) never once runs out of gas. It’s a solid execution which takes its inspiration to brand new heights, thanks to the dedication of all involved. Hundreds of Beavers reunites the team that brought Lake Michigan Monster to audiences in 2019, and stars Ryland Brickson Cole Tews as the intrepid hero of this frostbitten inventive epic. It is co-written by Tews and Mike Cheslik, making his feature directorial debut. 
The filmmakers have already taken home a number of awards including Best Narrative Feature at the Kansas City Film Festival International, the Oxford Film Festival, the Capital City Film Festival, and the Wyoming International Film Festival. Cheslik took home Best Director at Wyoming and the Phoenix Film Festival, as well as Best Comedy Feature at Midwest Weirdfest. At Mexico City's Morbido Film Festival, Hundreds of Beavers won the coveted Bronze Skull Award. Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival awarded the film the Bronze Audience Award for Best International Feature.
Hundreds of Beavers will begin streaming on April 15. The film, which emerged as one of the festival circuit's most unexpected gems of recent years, is coming to VOD and Fandor as a national tour of theater chains continues. Hundreds of Beavers will be available for rental and purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV nationwide through FilmHub starting April 15, 2024. Other major TVOD platforms will follow. The frostbitten epic comedy will be available as an SVOD exclusive on Fandor beginning April 19.
Hundreds of Beavers is pure comedy gold.
