Venom: Let There Be Carnage - 4K Ultra HD

Eddie Brock has a BIG secret!

It takes a couple of views, but Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a fun, fast-paced flick that, easy to swallow, gets straight to the point as Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) continues to live with the unwanted shape-shifting symbiote known as Venom (also voiced by Hardy).  This time, though, Venom is joined by a serial killer named Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) who also becomes host to an alien symbiote after biting Brock from within his jail cell..

"delivers a sequel that is worthy of Sony’s plans for the anti-hero in the multiverse of Marvel"

Directed by Andy Serkis,  this sequel to the critically-hammered original movie is another rocking affair as Venom finds himself in a comical odd couple situation with Brock, who continues to destroy the things he loves.  Both believe they are better without the other hanging around.  The tension adds a lot of humor to the situation as they violently separate and then discover that, of course, they are better together.

And it all centers around the escape of Kasady as he turns San Quentin into a madhouse as Carnage and walks out on his own, in search of his long lost love.  When Brock discovers the truth about Kasady’s escape, he’s without Venom and must find him.  But Venom is having fun on his own out in the nightclubs of San Francisco.  Can he convince him to come back and complete him?Venom: Let There Be Carnage - 4K Ultra HD

If it sounds impossible, just know that the second Venom movie is also impossibly fun.  It has a just go with it attitude that has worked well for the series so far and, complete with a shocker of an ending, it delivers a sequel that is worthy of Sony’s plans for the anti-hero in the multiverse of Marvel.

Co-starring Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, Naomie Harris as a mutant named Shriek, and a whole bunch of chickens that Venom can’t bring himself to feast on anymore, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a freewheeling blast from beginning to end as San Francisco becomes a symbiote stomping ground.

The sequel, written by Kelly Marcel,  is now on blu-ray thanks to Sony and, don’t worry, Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu) will not be eaten!  Now, let’s go save that asshole, Eddie Brock!

Video:

Sony Pictures presents Venom: Let There Be Carnage on blu-ray with a 1080p transfer that has very strong results.  The 2.39:1 aspect ratio preserves its cinematic look as Venom smashes through concrete columns and beyond.  Black levels are solid and whites are crisp. Much of the film is captured in low light situations and I’m happy to report that the black levels remain well-defined throughout.  Location shoots are captured with great detail and there are no moments of unfortunate crush when the levels switch.  Textures are good.  Colors are striking.  This is a dazzling blu-ray that is made perfect by the ultra HD

Audio:

A powerful Dolby Atmos audio track carries the film’s dialogue, soundtrack, and effects.  Be warned because this movie gets loud with thunderous bullets and explosions galore.
