Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman

Make no mistake about it.  Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman is not a great movie.  It might not even be that necessary considering the first one was all bark and little bite, but as we are talking about a psychotic (and in this one, resurrected) snowman who kills for jollies, I guess it doesn't matter now does it?!

"Complete with baby snowballs and pools of coolant, Jack Frost 2 is for die-hards only"

While the puns are there, the demented holiday spirit is almost a complete lost cause this time around as The Chiller Killer takes to the high seas in pursuit of his main nemesis, Sheriff Sam (Christopher Allport).  Only this time the not-so huggable Jack Frost (again voiced by Scott MacDonald) is completely off his home turf, and it shows as he violently and hilariously attacks dumb vacationers on a Caribbean Island where there is no snow in sight.

That’s right, the Caribbean.  A snowman.  This time, though, the sun can’t stop him.  Neither can antifreeze, fire, or bullets.   This direct-to-video comedy slasher film is once again written and directed by Michael Cooney, but this time it is a hell of a lot more groan-worthy as a tropical cabana becomes ground zero for REVENGE!Jack Frost 2: Revenge Of The Mutant Killer Snowman

Clinging to his carrot nose, Jack Frost kills and kills again, taking the lives of a beach model (Melanie Good) and stabbing her cameraman (Paul H. Kim) before hilarious attacking more and more people and then, after deciding that it is too warm for him to survive, freezes the entire island for even more murderous reindeer games.  All to the chagrin of Colonel Hickering (Ray Cooney) and his assistants Captain Fun (Sean Patrick Murphy) and Bobby (Tai Bennett)

Complete with baby snowballs and pools of coolant, Jack Frost 2 is for die-hards only!  In this one, the melty killer gets himself a family - only to lose them - and goes completely mad and finds himself raging like hell against banana smoothies!  It’s a long story, man, and probably not worth your time.  It should be noted that this release was supposed to be the UNCENSORED version.  Well, that’s not what happened and while it remains to be seen if we will ever get that version, MVD is at least acknowledging their mistake with the renaming of this release . . . ABRIDGED!

Just when you thawed it was safe to go back in the fridge!

Jack Frost (Scott MacDonald), the chiller killer is back and he's mad as hell. An accidental lab experiment resurrected the evil snowman, but this time, the crystal killer can't be stopped by fire, bullets or even his worst enemy, chemical anti-freeze. With revenge on his mind, Jack sets out to finish off his nemesis, Sheriff Sam (Christopher Allport), who is vacationing on a Caribbean Island. Sam's balmy paradise turns into a Winter Terrorland when Jack freezes the island and quickly ices everyone around him. No one can stop the chilling killing spree when Jack can travel as lethal liquid or fatal, frosty flakes.

Video:

Jack Frost 2 on blu-ray is something fans had long-thought impossible.  Their work on the picture and the print is to be commended.  Presented in its intended aspect ratio of 1.85, it is the punched-up color you will notice first.  But it has a dated video look which no amount of restoration is ever going to fix.  To make matter worse, the budget was probably a whole $10 and it shows.

Audio:

The sound is presented in a strong DTS HD MA 5.1 track.
