Don't F With Mary Jane (2026)

The first rule of Don't F With Mary Jane is simple: stop trying to figure out whether it's taking itself seriously. It doesn't care. One minute it's a bruising character study about emotional abuse and abandonment; the next it's firing off pitch-black jokes before diving headfirst into psychological chaos.

"understands that the scariest people aren't movie monsters—they're broken people who honestly believe they're the hero of their own story"

Director Joseph Herrera understands that the scariest people aren't movie monsters—they're broken people who honestly believe they're the hero of their own story. That tension gives the film its unpredictable energy.

Leading the spiral is Swisyzinna as Mary Jane, delivering a performance that's vulnerable one moment, magnetic the next, and genuinely unnerving throughout. Joe Walker, Trey Seward, and Rafael Gantley round out the cast with performances that make every relationship in Mary Jane's life feel volatile.

Herrera keeps the audience locked inside her point of view, so every encounter carries a sense of dread. You never know if the next conversation will end in reconciliation, humiliation, or bloodshed, and that's exactly the point. The film refuses to settle into a comfortable groove.

There are moments when Don't F With Mary Jane feels like it came from someone who wore out VHS copies of Natural Born Killers and May, and I mean that as praise. It embraces that same reckless willingness to make audiences laugh one second and squirm the next.Don't F With Mary Jane (2026)

The movie has rough edges. Good. Leave them there. The performances are fully committed, the violence is ugly when it needs to be, and the comedy lands because it's willing to go too far. Most importantly, Swisyzinna never lets Mary Jane become another one-dimensional movie psycho. She's wounded, funny, terrifying, manipulative, and completely draining to watch—in the best possible way.

By the time the credits roll, you'll either be texting every cult movie fan you know or arguing with someone about what you just watched. Either way, Herrera got exactly the reaction he was after.

Don't F With Mary Jane is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, with additional digital platforms expected to follow in the coming weeks.
