Do you really want to find the source for all the screaming which echoes in the land?! Are you really that brave? Devil’s Knight, a new fantasy horror hybrid from Mahal Empire Productions is a film that doesn’t intend to be taken seriously . . . which is why I absolutely love it. It’s designed to sit on a collector’s shelf which celebrates films like Dragonheart, Ladyhawke, and Barbarian Queen.
It’s nightmare fuel for Heavy Metal ballads. And that’s reason enough to celebrate its release by Film Hub.
What do you know of the Bone Devil? Nothing? What about the Hook Beast, a fearsome one-eyed monster? Nothing still?! Well, prepare to get familiar with all manner of monsters as Devil’s Knight, the brand-new fantasy horror film from producers Michael and Sonny Mahal, makes its debut this November!
The Lost Blades, an elite group of monster hunters in Medieval (or is that MidEVIL?!?!?) times, have been summoned by King Samuel to rid the medieval world of Veroka of The Bone Devil once and for all. They weren’t his first choice, though . . .
. . . which makes Devil’s Knight all sorts of bloody fun. The cast is having fun; the humor is locked; and the beasts are EPIC. What more could you want from fantasy?!
Told in a narrative frame, Devil’s Knight is filled to the brim with great creature designs (carved out and created by Tom Devlin) and has a manic humor that is, at once, inviting as the mystery of what these knights do deepens and is dipped in a broth of conspiracy. Something - monster or man - is not right in the Kingdom of Remény . . . and it has been that way for years.
After a group of trackers fails to kill the creature, King Samuel decides to bring in an elite group of monster hunters. These hunters must use every skill they have obtained from around the globe to destroy this ancient evil. Will they be enough, or will the Bone Devil continue its reign of terror?
Devil’s Knight, working as a throwback to some of the sword and sorcery films of the 1980s, has several moments of humor by way of violence. It’s not afraid to be irreverent or cheesy. This, in turn, makes the movie a whole lot of fun to watch, as fantastical situations are explored with magic spells and potions . . . even if rocks can still take a man out.
Starring Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), Angie Everheart, Isabelle Urganci (Bermuda Island), Mistress Harley, Daniel Baldwin (Grey Gardens), John Wells (Arena Wars), Denny Nolan, Eric Roberts (The Pope of Greenwich Village) as Lord Sussex, the cast is a literal whose who when it comes to B-movies.
Either by man or beast, the film - directed by Adem Werth, who co-wrote the screenplay with Victor V. Gelsomino - showcases the strengths of both those in battle and the beasts they combat. The balance is pulled off with an epic sense of storytelling as fantasy becomes fact for those captivated by the harvesting happening all around them.
Beasts; Demons; Devils; and monsters galore. This is the grotesque territory of Devil’s Knight, a film which marches to that of a more emphatic beat and a loudness which is hard to ignore!
