Fright Night Movie TrailerThe only thing frightening about Chris Gillespie's take on the 1985 vampire horror Fright Night, is the amount of plot details that are revealed in the film's first trailer which was recently released on iTunes. It's one of those trailers that gives away way too much plot information and character details, so if having the film spoiled right in front of you in a brief 2 minutes and thirty second span might bother you, then we recommend you drop down and just read the plot synopsis below that gives away far less.

However, if you do want to watch it, you'll see that Gillespie's vision only barely resembles the 1985 film about a nerdy kid who discovers his new next-door neighbor is a vampire. And whereas the original version from director Tom Holland went for a lighter-toned look-and-feel with a comedy/horror vibe, Gillespie is clearly going for the Dark Knight edgy blackness that seems to be all the rage of late.

Plot synopsis: Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all—he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But trouble arrives when an intriguing stranger Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—and everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After witnessing some very unusual activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone that he’s telling the truth, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Fright Night will be unleashed in theaters on August 19th in Real 3D. Watch the trailer below:
