Golden Globes 2019 NomineesThe Hollywood Foreign Press Association had a little party yesterday as its members voted in the annual awards celebration they call the The Golden Globes.

Though its results are often a mixed bag as they relate to how the American Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will vote in their Oscars, it's always nice to keep an eye on who to look out for and to see if any surprises pop up.

The Dick Cheney biopic Vice led all film nominations with six, while The Favourite, Green Book, and A Star is Born followed with five apiece.

But the bigger story here is that four of the ten nominees in the Best Picture category have non-white directors. Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, Ryan Coogler's Black Panther, and Barry Jenkin's If Beale Street Could Talk each received recognition in the Best Picture-Drama category, with John M. Chu's Crazy Rich Asians getting a nod in the Best Picture-Comedy or Drama category. However, of these, Lee was the only to get a Best Director nomination.

Following is a list of how the Association's awards shook out. As you know, the Golden Globes also celebrates television in addition to film, but we've limited the below list to film categories only:
