This is one hell of a deadly mousetrap!
Opening with a seriously twisted tooth extraction, I Heart Willie is not the cartoon character origin story you might be expecting . . . especially if you have a thing for Mickey Mouse. No, in Director Alejandro G Alegre’s version, this Steamboat Willie is more concerned with binding, torturing and killing all who dare come aboard his pleasure cruise.
I Heart Willie is demented fun. You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll cover your eyes! What you won’t do is ever become bored by the onscreen madness wrecking your eyeballs, thanks to all the twisted killings happening in this blood-soaked slasher as David Vaughn, in the creepiest makeshift Mickey Mouse outfit you’ve ever seen, goes about maiming and killing all the innocents who seek him out within the Mouse of Horror.
Starring Maya Luna, Micho Camacho, Sergio Rogalto, Daniela Porras, David Vaughn, and filmed entirely in Michoacan, the heart of Mexico, this tale of horror is as demented as it comes thanks to a screenplay by David Vaughn which posits YouTubers who have a show that explores haunted locations against rural mexico and a deformed German shipping tycoon’s sole heir.
Born with deformities causing him to look like a human-mouse hybrid, Willie has long suffered, watching kids around him fall in love with a cartoon character based upon him, yet he gets hated and abused.
And now he wants his revenge! After a series of recent disappearances reignites interest in the urban legend, this group of four friends are in for a night they won’t soon forget.
Bloody and full of a whole hell of a lot of skin-removing shenanigans, I Heart Willie is an easy win for fans of gore and solid kills. This horror film is sick in all the right places as it damn near perfects the recipe for camp, blood, and horror as Nora (expertly played by Luna) steals the show as her character goes from innocence to insanity within the film’s running time.
The less you know about this obsessed psychopath, the better your movie experience will be. Trust me. Just know that it’s perfectly fine to laugh yourself crazy as Disney’s prized property becomes parody and starts harvesting skin for his own amusement.
I Heart Willie will be available to watch in theaters for one night only in the U.S. and Canada on Feb. 26, courtesy of Rubey Entertainment, LLC.
