The Love Heist (2026)

The Love Heist knows exactly what it's selling, and thankfully, it doesn't waste time pretending to be something it's not. Directed by Kevin Fair and written by Holly Gent, the film drops us into the glitz of the Chicago Costume Gala, where celebrity stylist Kayli finds herself scrambling to recover a priceless piece of fashion history before her reputation unravels with it. The setup is simple, but that's part of the charm. Instead of overloading the story with twists, it lets the mystery create just enough momentum to throw two very different people together.

"Sometimes a movie wins simply by not trying so hard. The Love Heist understands its assignment"

That gamble pays off because Lyndsy Fonseca and Peter Porte have the kind of chemistry you can't fake. They don't just flirt—they enjoy each other's company, and that makes all the difference. Their banter has an easy rhythm, never feeling forced or manufactured, and you find yourself looking forward to the conversations as much as the clues. Fonseca gives Kayli confidence without making her invincible, while Porte plays Mills with a quiet confidence that makes him instantly likable. Rhianna Jagpal adds another spark to the ensemble, keeping the energy up whenever she steps into the frame.

Nobody's confusing The Love Heist for Knives Out, and the movie never asks you to. It's far more interested in pairing off its leads than tying itself into narrative knots, and that's the smarter play. The missing fashion artifact is really just the excuse to bounce through glamorous hotels, backstage dressing rooms, and elegant gala parties while the romance slowly sneaks up on you. Kevin Fair keeps everything moving without rushing it, giving the film a polished look that complements its playful tone without getting lost in the designer labels. The Love Heist (2026)

Sometimes a movie wins simply by not trying so hard. The Love Heist understands its assignment, leans into it, and lets two genuinely charming leads do the heavy lifting. It's funny when it needs to be; sweet without becoming syrupy; and just mysterious enough to keep you engaged between the romantic beats. You may know where it's headed long before the final scene, but getting there is half the fun—and with Fonseca and Porte leading the way, it's a trip well worth taking.
