Dark My Light (2025)

It’s the scream.  In that single moment - in which a scream breaks through the silence of the screen - in which Dark My Light begins its narrative threading and perfectly knots its audience to the events of the movie.  Hair-raising and completely unexpected, this shredding of human emotions will long haunt the viewer - especially when you take in the tonal overview of this film.

"blends humor with horror and delivers an unforgettable character-driven thriller"

Simply put, there is no escape from this film.  You won’t want to either.  Dark My Light is an evocative thriller, which takes form over its running time as it operates as a darkly tinged police procedural in which nothing is as it seems.

You will doubt it all.  What you won’t doubt is the pure poetry of this film and its players as Dark My Light proves to be something totally unforgettable.

With obvious influences from Twin Peaks and its creator, David Lynch, writer/director Neal Dhand blends humor with horror and delivers an unforgettable character-driven thriller as police detective Mitchell Morse (Albert Jones) goes on the hunt for a serial killer stalking victims on the beach.  With a new partner at his side - Dreyfus (Tom Lipinski) - and a severed foot which doesn’t match the body found, this puzzle of a movie is already playing with us.Dark My Light (2025)

Watch closely.  The clues are all arranged and - even if the key is in Jones’ cold and calculating performance - the end will still shock you.

But, listen, if the mystery inherent in the murder and the visuals doesn’t pull you in, the rich dialogue in the screenplay definitely will.  Couple that with the on-point cinematography from Charles Ackley Anderson and you have a police procedural that isn’t afraid to whistle through the graveyard on its march toward the greasier side of the aisle.

Co-starring Keesha Sharp as Emily, Morse’s estranged wife, the drama hits its stride thanks to a hefty amount of pitch black humor and helps to grease the wheels when Dark My Light goes for broke and delivers a shocking turn of events.

From a tease of science fiction to that which connects us all, Dark My Light arrives on all VOD platforms Tuesday, May 6th from Ethos Releasing.  Dark My Light.
