Death Bitch (2024)

“Hey, Sexy!  Wanna party?”

With those words, Candy, a street walker, finds herself shoved into a van and almost at the mercy of a couple of Los Angeles goons with nothing but raping and killing on their mind.  The scene of abduction is unnerving and skin crawling and it sets the tone for the gritty suspense of what’s to come . . .  but the unease is momentary thanks to the actions of . . . Death Bitch, who - minutes later - fires two bullets into the would-be abductors and vanishes into the night.

Someone has to keep this city safe.

"a steely-eyed entry in the revenge thriller department"

Death Bitch, with great locations and some killer drone shots, explodes off the screen in a furious kick of grit and sleazy glamor.  The film is straight-up deadly, scoring massive points with its characters and its plotting.  The violence - which is heavy and splatterific -  runs throughout this low budget film reminding audiences of just how desperate and disparaging the reality created here is.  This works to create a throwback vibe to the exploitation era of films where Pam Grier was the absolute queen of kicking ass and taking names.

Up until now, it seems that the vice squad is stumped by the sudden rise in crime.  They have a killer on the loose, a city on the verge of chaos, and a vigilante gunning down anyone with any ounce of “sideways” action on the mind.  The streets have never been more deadly than they are now, something the film’s co-writer, Meri Gyetvay doesn’t steer clear of.

Co-written and directed by Ken “Ace” Brewer, Death Bitch, a female-led violent thriller starring Bridget “The Midget” Powers (who plays Stella “Doggie Door” Smith,  someone you don’t want to ever mess with), Linnea Swanson (as the avenging angel herself), and Traci Burr (as Detective Schoefield, who simply kills in her role as the take-no-nonsense investigator brought in to help the clueless rookies out with the case), is a 90-minute ride through the parks, piers, bars and city streets of Los Angeles as all sorts of bad behavior is highlighted.  Complete with a badass attitude and a salty swagger, Death Angel is a film where the gangs openly rob and kill in broad daylight and the nights, no matter how well-lit they are, are infested with all sorts of heinous activity.Death Bitch (2024)

It’s no wonder that a cold ass vigilante with the deadliest of aims has taken to the streets to shut all the insanity down!

With solid performances from the film’s three leads, Death Bitch becomes a steely-eyed entry in the revenge thriller department while the mysterious vigilante’s backstory is fully fleshed out and the investigation becomes heated.  She’s on a mission to avenge the death of her family and the cops need to shut the violence down.  As her story crosses with the other brutal slayings in Los Angeles, the film becomes increasingly interconnected.  It’s only a matter of time before she crosses paths with the detectives on the hunt for those responsible for the insane body count here!

The film, jam-packed with all sorts of violence and left-of-center characters, is having its premiere at the Starlight Terrace Theatre in California, and then will have its Canadian premiere in September.  DVD & blu-ray copies of this independent release are available for pre-order now on Livid Media’s website
