Salt Sequel progressingDespite its lukewarm critical acclaim and consensus opinion that it could have been better, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that last summer's spy action thriller SALT is getting a sequel, especially considering that it pulled in a whopping $300 million at the worldwide box office.

Deadline is reporting that Sony is moving forward on the much-speculated sequel with Kurt Wilmer again writing the screenplay. There's been no official word yet as to who will helm the project - we know Philip Noyce won't return - or if Angelina Jolie will reprise her Russian sleeper agent character, Evelyn Salt. The Tourist star did say however, that she'd definitely consider returning to the franchise if "it all comes together right."

For the money, it's probably a good idea to go ahead and get Jolie signed on the dotted line as quickly as possible, as she's a good bet - but not a guarantee - to help make this thing a success. We can hardly think of any other female action star right now who can kick as much ass while still looking as pretty as a can of Carnation Milk.

Let's do this thing!
