Easy A - September 17, 2010
Emma Stone and Amanda Bynes square off in this film that (according to the trailers) feels a lot like a classic John Hughes '80s movie. After a little white lie about losing her virginity gets out, a clean cut high school girl sees her life paralleling Hester Prynne's in "The Scarlet Letter," which she is currently studying in school - until she decides to use the rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

We like sarcastic humor.

Buried - September 24, 2010
Ryan Reynolds stars in this Sundance thriller that had us sold simply on its one sentence synopsis: A U.S. truck driver in Iraq finds himself trapped inside a coffin with only a cell phone and a lighter. The film was shot for less than $2 million over 17 days in Barcelona... and takes place entirely in a coffin.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps - September 24, 2010
Oliver Stone sequel to the 80s Blockbuster, Wall Street, that starred Charlie Sheen and Michael Douglas. As the global economy teeters on the brink of disaster, a young Wall Street trader partners with disgraced former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko on a two-tiered mission: To alert the financial community to the coming doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of the young trader's mentor. Shai Labeouf, Carey Mulligan, and Charlie Sheen star. Michael Douglas reprises his role as Gordon Gekko.

Freakonomics - October 1, 2010
A must-see for fans of the book. Interestingly, six different directors divide up the chapters and put their own spin on the best-selling book by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. The directors involved are Heidi Ewing, Alex Gibney, Seth Gordon, Rachel Grady, Eugene Jarecki, and Morgan Spurlock.

The Social Network - October 1, 2010

Let Me In - October 1, 2010
Cloverfield director Matt Reeves takes a shot at remaking 2008's cult vampire hit from Sweden, Let the Right One In. Like the Americanization of the Dragon Tattoo series, this one's to appease audiences who don't go anywhere near foreign films. Can't blame the studios for trying, so let's give Reeves a chance.

It's Kind of a Funny Story - October 8, 2010
The makers of Half Nelson and Sugar, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, adapt this comedy-drama (set in a mental institution) from Ned Vizzini’s 2006 novel of the same name. Stars The Hangover's Zach Galifianakis and Julia Roberts's niece, Emma Roberts who broke out with Hotel for Dogs. World-premiered at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Secretariat - October 8, 2010
Stars Diane Lane as Penny Chenery, who took over ownership of the racehorse Secretariat, that won the Triple Crown in 1973. Did we mention it stars Diane Lane? Ooo la la!

They have a new strategy though... change the name from something we're all familiar with - in this case Rapunzel - to something that totally makes no sense. Good luck, Disney.

Tron: Legacy - December 17, 2010
Sequel to the 1982 Disney cult-hit based on the popular video game of the time, Tron. Nearly 30 years in the making, so suppose it's time, but must say, the trailers frankly disappoint.

Gulliver's travels - December 22
Jack Black stars in this twist on Jonathan Swift's classic novel about a modern-day mail room clerk who, via the Bermuda triangle, ends up on the island of Lilliput where he towers over the tiny inhabitants. Be prepared for plenty of political satire and social commentary.

Little Fockers - December 22
The third film in the Meet the Parents franchise. Do they really think there's any more mileage to be had out of "I'm watching you" (with two fingers pointed at the eyes)? They'll probably even run back through the lie detector bit too. We have a feeling that even rolling Barbra Streisand back out won't be enough for this tired franchise.

True Grit - December 25
Christmas day brings us the Coen Brothers version of the classic Charles Portis novel of the same name. Of course, John Wayne earned an Oscar for his portrayal of Rooster Cogburn in the 1969 adaptation, but something tells us, this one will have a slightly different slant. Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, and Barry Pepper star.

Blue Valentine - December 31, 2010
Debuted at Sundance this year and is still riding a big enough high to garner Oscar consideration. Stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling. The film centers on a contemporary married couple, charting their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods.

Holding steady at 86% Rotten Tomatoes Approval.
