Dawn (2022)

Ever been stuck in the middle of nowhere without a ride home?  If you have, then you know the fear that can be kicked from the pit of your stomach up into the back of your throat in mere seconds.  Just how are you going to make it home?  Be careful with your next moves as some irrational choices just might be made, especially if a stranger offers you safe passage.  That ride might very well be your last.  As Dawn suggests, their intentions might not be good at all, or are they?

"an unexpected ride through the bleakest of nights"

Starring Jackie Moore (who absolutely slays in her performance) as Dawn, the demented driver behind the wheel in this rideshare to hell, this movie manages to both taunt and tease as the carnage manages to sneak up in the rearview mirror.

Opening with a wild montage of shots which appear to show the brutal stabbing of a woman as the knife from whomever has kidnapped her plunges deeper and deeper into her skin, Dawn puts its audience in a weird frame of mind before settling into the pitch-black night of its story.  You can practically feel the pulse of the city as a jet-black car cruises the streets looking for passengers to pick up.

Or should I say victims?

Because that’s what’s at the core of Dawn, a new horror flick from Nicholas Ryan, as an unsuspecting couple, Oliver (Jared Cohn) and Anna (Sarah French), get the rideshare of their life as Dawn puts them through bizarre life and death situations.  The first victim up is none other than Eric Roberts, whose emotional pleadings do little to stall the nail hammered into his skull.  The next round begins with a gun pulled as Dawn’s intentions with “the entitled” become clearer.Dawn (2022)

And just like that, it is lights out!  The first point (of many) goes to the driver, whose thirst for blood is matched only by her need for speed.  She has a rare talent for what she does and, as the incidents keep getting interrupted by what appears to be a training video she has made, she’s looking to branch out.  Scary, right?!

Co-starring Michael Paré, Gigi Gustin, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Nicholas Brendon, Dawn is written by Ryder and Dawson Doupé and Todd Tapper.  It is an unexpected ride through the bleakest of nights thanks to Dawn’s view of the world and the people in it.

Jackie Moore (Pernicious) and Jared Cohn (A Stalker in the House) lead an ensemble cast in the frightening share ride horror DAWN, on Digital August 2 from Uncork’d Entertainment.  Be careful who you accept a ride from, it may be your last.
