Skinwalker - Movie Review

Skinwalker

When I was young, my friends and I played Cowboys and Indians.  We’d chuck rocks at each other and clobber each other with branches, but never did we think to add DEMONS to the mix of the things which might attack the unsuspecting rancher on dark nights of terror.  Bravo to the team behind Skinwalker, a new film which drops this July.

"a scorching tale in which demons invade the Old West, creeps up on you with its poisonous infection"

That’s right, it’s Cowboys vs Creatures when this WILD film rides its bloodied horse into town!

The dead ain’t got no use for things.  Keep that in mind as Skinwalker, a scorching tale in which demons invade the Old West, creeps up on you with its poisonous infection.  It might not hit all of its targets with the needed precision, but this flick is certainly enjoyable as its many characters run into extreme situations while fleeing from town.

Skinwalker, directed by Robert Conway, is a low budget entry into the weird and wacky world of Old West shenanigans as sacred death totems are mixed with shapeshifting demons and a grisly hell is unleashed to walk among the plains and cliffs as what is mistaken as a fever turns its hosts into something otherworldly and EVIL.

After looting a Native American burial site, a hunter unleashes the legendary Skinwalker, a shape shifting demon, onto an unsuspecting world where the women are just as fierce as the killers who haunt without end among the tall trees. Once thought to be only a legend, this ancient evil returns from the grave to wreak a terrible vengeance on all who are unfortunate enough to cross its path.Skinwalker

It’s every man and woman for themselves as story lines slam into each other and one sheriff finds out that a busted leg in the transport of his female captive is the least of his worries.  Layered with multiple arcs (which I didn’t expect) and (at times) truly eerie in its rollout as all these stories converge into one glorious B-grade flick, Skinwalker (aside from a few technical issues and some weak moments of acting) hits the right notes on its ride through this savage territory of ancient demons, fierce characters, and superstitions that cannot be held in check.

Starring Eva Hamilton, Cameron Kotecki, Amelia Haberman, Dan Higgins, Daniel Link, Charlie E Motley, Edward Rodriguez, Nathaniel Burns, Liz Manning, Victorio Pope, Jeff Yazzie, and Becky Jo Harris, this movie tells a wild tale of demons and head-lobbing attacks on the darkest of nights among the plains.  Are you brave enough to stand up to what awaits?

Yippee Ki Yay!  Skinwalker will arrive on DVD and Digital July 13 from Uncork’d Entertainment.  Get your choke straps tied, podna!  It’s hog-killin’ time!
