del Toro and Perlman Talk Hellboy 3

In a recent interview during a stop at San Diego's ComicCon, Hellboy and Hellboy 2 director, Guillermo del Toro, alongside his go-to actor Ron Perlman who plays the titular de-horned protagonist, expressed mutual interest in pairing once again for the trilogy finale of the devilish hero's journey.

"I can say publicly that now [Ron Perlman and I] are together in trying [to make 'Hellboy 3']," del Toro told EW during an interview conducted during the fanboy festival.

Perlman has expressed a bit of trepidation however, sentiment echoed by the graphic novel's creator Mike Mignola. Though both seem leery of del Toro's proposed conclusion, getting everyone involved to even talk about the project is the hard part, and that seems to be happening.

Perlman: "I would love to [make a third 'Hellboy'], but the heartbreak for me is that I know how it ends and I don't know if I want to see that ending.  But I would love to do it"

Captain America 2 Gets a Title and New Star

Rumors that the Captain America sequel would include a Winter Soldier storyline have been confirmed now that Marvel has announced that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be the official title of the sophomore film in the Captain America series.

Word has also come down that Anthony Mackie is in negotiations to appear in the film as Sam T. Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) the first African American superhero featured in mainstream comics. Of course Mackie has been on the rise of late having appeared in The Hurt Locker, Notorious, The Adjustment Bureau, and currently in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. No official word on how directors Joe and Anthony Russo intend to incorporate the Falcon character, or what elements from the character's comic book origin will be carried over to the film.

OUIJA Gets Another Writing Team

The on-again, off-again relationship wheel between Hollywood and popular childhood board games seems to have spun back around in favor of eventually seeing yet another game hit the big screen. This time it's Ouija, Hasbro's spirit talking board "game" popularized back in the '70s getting a rewrite from a new team of scribes following a previous draft by Tron: Legacy co-writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis that failed to satisfy studio demands.

That previous version was to include McG at the helm of its effects-driven, family-friendly concept, but now that idea has been tamped down to a low-budget affair similar to the Paranormal Activity series of films. Seems no one wants to go down the Battleship road again. Can't say I blame them, but the found-footage horror concept used in Paranormal Activity is already quite long in the tooth and may not have many more scares left in the tank. Risky either way. Regardless, Variety is reporting that Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, the pair behind the Boogeyman and Knowing films, have been hired to rewrite and direct the Ouija movie with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes to produce.
