Lovely Molly

Making a splash this month at the Toronto International film festival is a little horror thriller from The Blair Witch Project co-director Eduardo Sanchez. The film is called Lovely Molly, and though we're not sure how much value there is to still be gleaned from attaching to anything having to do with the twelve-year-old Blair Witch Project (especially since its horrible follow-up carried the same moniker), after watching the teaser trailer which was released recently online, it looks to be a fairly spooky little gem. Then again, we know how misleading trailers can be. We're looking at you Creature!

It stars Gretchen Lodge - in her film acting debut as the titular Molly - and Johnny Lewis who are newlyweds living in Molly's deceased father's long-abandoned house out in the country. Things are going just hunky-dory until Molly begins a descent into evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession.

You can watch the first trailer for Lovely Molly below to see what we mean about how creepy this thing is. Molly has clearly lost control, but it's a bit disturbing to see exactly what can happen when someone "loses control." Could have done without the drag-the-body-around-the-corner (a la [REC] and Paranormal Activity) bit though. It's getting a bit overused.

Below that is another short viral clip that appears on the Lovely Molly official site in which we get a look (via night vision) under the floorboards of Grandpa's old house. We see something down there like an engraving or placard with horse heads that likely ties in with the film's marketing materials which appeared at the hotel doorsteps of TIFF press (see pic below courtesy of Bloody-Disgusting).
