"It's possible; we're looking at a script this month" Tapert said. "What's interesting about 'Evil Dead' is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. ... I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience."

Much to the delight of the legions of giggly fans, rumors of a Sam Raimi The Evil Dead 4 have been making the circuit for years. So, forgive us for saying this: please don't waste your and our time on this project. The Evil Dead, which represents Raimi's directorial debut originally released in 1981, is one of those "lightning in a bottle" films that should be allowed to live its creaky remaining years in the blu-ray release it enjoyed last year. Or better yet, bring it back on celluloid and give it another theatrical run. But let's not sully its memory by rolling out some crisp, shiny 3D iMax reincarnation of the campy little cabin-in-the-woods thriller that we all love.
