The service is expected to make digital movies playable on all certified devices and will provide lifetime rights to movies and shows that can be transferred from one service provider to another if the owner chooses to switch or if one the services closes down.

On the downside, movies and other content will contain digital rights management (DRM) to prevent unauthorized copying. Another drawback is that Disney and Apple have yet to buy into the service.

Will this be the golden bridge to the digital age of movies, or just another confusing format to cloud the picture?
